Are you looking for the best first communion gifts for girls? There are common first communion gift ideas, but it can be tough to think of something unique.

As a rule of thumb, it’s always a good idea to check with the parents of the communicant to make sure you aren’t repeating a gift the child is already expected to get. After all, you can only use so many rosaries.

I was inspired to make this list because we ran into the problem of family and friends asking us what to give our daughter for her first communion. As the first grandchild on both sides of the family, she had received everything she could possibly need at her baptism.

It was kind of wild.

So, keep reading for all those common and not-so-common first communion gifts for girls we came up with.

First communion gift ideas can be a quality rosary or bible

First Communion Gifts for Girls

These ideas make great first communion gifts for girls, but many of them can be great first communion gifts for boys as well. Simply change them for your idea of an appropriate version for a boy.

1) Rosary

This is probably the most common idea for first communion gifts for girls. There are many rosary styles, colors, and meanings. With that being said, it may be a good idea to ask if this gift is needed.

2) Bible

A Bible is an important religious object to have. You could choose to give a nice quality adult Bible, but if you wish to encourage a child to read it a kids version is best.

There are many styles for kids, this may include Precious Moments, Legos, and magazine-style layouts. There are some cool choices out there, so think of the child’s personality and select the best choice for her.

3) Necklace

This is another one of the most common first communion gifts for girls. This could be a delicate gold cross, a crucifix, or an angel. There are many choices, but I recommend purchasing a piece of fine jewelry.

Since this will likely be the child’s first piece of nice jewelry try to find something that will be appropriate and beautiful throughout their entire life.

4) Artwork

You can find many different kinds of beautiful religious artworks. It could be a calming print of Jesus, a prayer, a patron saint, or something colorful and fun. Another idea could be a religious statue.

5) Mass Guidebook

This is especially good for young communicants. As they leave toys, snacks, and other distractions behind. A mass guidebook is a helpful aid to transition to paying attention to the full mass.

The child can follow along and have the concept of when mass will be finished.

6) Nativity

We had a real problem with thinking of a gift for our daughter. She already has a Bible, a rosary, jewelry, and my childhood religious art. She is blessed for sure.

Well, I thought about it for a bit and recalled that she had mentioned that she wanted her own nativity set. Since a quality nativity set is a big investment I figured I would never purchase it otherwise, and the Fontanini store was having a sale for Easter with a percentage off and an additional free figure.

You could choose to purchase just figures or the stable as well. And there are many different styles to choose from.

This was a great choice for us since I could tell other family members that additional figures were a great idea. She received several additional pieces from grandparents and aunts.

7) Wall Cross

A wall cross is a wonderful gift that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. They come in wood, metal, and ceramic. They can be plain or with a corpus, but I personally think a child would prefer not to have a corpus looking at them.

My daughter received a personalized wall cross from her grandparents with her first and middle name and her first communion date on it. You could tell right away she was in love. Since her name is a bit on the rare side she doesn’t see personalized items in the store very often.

It was a definite win.

8) Religious Medal

You may think of this as a necklace, but religious medals come in bracelets, keychains, visor clips, and more. You might want to choose their namesake saint or the religious figure of the church. This can be a more economical choice for people on a budget.

9) Bookmark

I religious bookmark for the child’s Bible is a great idea. You can get one that is personalized with their baptism date. It is something they can keep in their Bible forever.

10) Picture Frame

This can be especially special. In general, children don’t have picture frames in their room or that belong to them.

My suggestion is to get a nice frame that will grow with them then place a picture of you with the child at their baptism. This shows the child your constant presence and support in their spiritual life.

This would be a particularly good gift for godparents or close family members. And kids feel very grown up and special to have a real picture frame of their own.
